Christian chicken

Amid the lively debate over the public statements of Chick-fil-a executive Dan T. Cathy, one of the sons of the chain's founder, billionaire S. Truett Cathy, I thought it worth posting my 2007 Forbes magazine investigation into the fundamental christianity that is woven deep into the corporate culture of everyone's favorite fast-food fried chicken sandwich. So pervasive are the Southern Baptist christianity and conservative social beliefs of the Cathy family that many franchise owners -- screened and hired in part because of their own Christian faith -- told me they saw serving chicken as God's work.

  1. Dear Emily, I want to commend and thank you for the much improved (and way better balanced) coverage of Argentina and BA in the New York Times since you began working as their local reporter. Is there anything we porteƱos can do to help you stay longer?
