From the sky, the rural areas around New Orleans are dense green cut by wide branches of the Mississippi. Flying over reminds me of viewing Liberia from a plane and Tecee's quip: "my country is greener than any green card." As we approach the ground, the patchwork shows itself as more uneven, patches of swamp cleared or plowed over.
