I just want peanut butter

I think of what it is that makes buenos aires third word. It is partly the selection. Most grocery stores carry the same products and brands, and valuable, U.S. items, like cream cheese and peanut butter, are left conspicuously off the shelves. You wonder if you're wanted. It's almost like a protest, and certain aspects of the first world seem so attractive, the never ending aisles of Whole Foods, with an amazing selection of gluten-free crackers. Shopping here, you kind of know you're getting substandard experience, being a bit cheated, but then money's fairly worthless anyway. Still, the lack of cream cheese and peanut butter, like so much else, is such an affront, an open defiance to that adage that the customer's always right. Instead, the selection is always from Argentina. Red meat, dulce de leche and handmade pasta are always on sale. The rest is a test of what you want and what you need.
