In A Nutshell

Bio
I'm a correspondent for The New York Times based in Chicago, interested in investigative journalism, great writing and untold stories. I recently served as a South Asia correspondent for the Times in New Delhi. I have also written for The Associated Press, Newsweek, GlobalPost, World Policy Journal, and The Guardian, with datelines from fifteen countries on five continents. I am an advisor to the NGO New Narratives, where I was Liberia country director in 2011. Chicago-born, partially Brooklyn-raised, a few of my favorite things, in no particular order, include cats, Scrabble, Thai coffee, the ocean and tennis.
